Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Commonly referred to as “flow” yoga. As a philosophy, Vinyasa recognizes the temporary nature of things. We enter into a posture, are there for a while and then leave. Vinyasa, is a breath initiated practice, that connects every action of our life with the intention of moving towards what is sacred, or most important to us.
**Something of note: Expect to meet Ashley’s four legged pug-shitzu pup at your class. He’s been to hundreds of Ashley’s yoga classes and loves a good snuggle!
Where: 6 Rice St. Rosseau, ON. Classes will be held in our new practice space, just across the street from TWB (Where CABIN was)!
What to bring / What to expect: Please bring a Yoga Mat and any other blocks and or straps you may like to use for your practice, as this will not be provided for you. Upon arrival, leave your shoes in one of the cubbies provided on the front porch. When entering the space, you will wear your protective mask to your practice spot and step up. Once settled, you may remove your mask for the duration of the class. After the class is complete, you will wear your protective mask to leave the practice space.
Refunds for classes- Due to the very limited class sizes, we we will only refund classes within 24hours of the class booked. Please be sure to contact us immediately so we may have the opportunity to allow another student to practice with us. If contacted after the 24hour mark, you will not be refunded.
Teacher, Ashley Parsons- Above all, Yoga is about the Breath. Being in the breath unfolds a vastness within you. You can get to know and then choose to dwell in this peace wherever you are and whensoever you wish. Honoured to teach Yoga, Ashley invites you to find your breath in a safe, calm, energizing and encouraging environment.
Ashley began the practice of Ashtanga Yoga in 1999, preceded by the practice of meditation in 1998 while she was studying Asian Religions at Concordia University.
Ashley’a approach to Yoga is rooted in breath and alignment. She teaches Ashtanga, Hatha, Power/Vinyasa/Flow, Yin, Restorative, and Restorative Yoga with Hot Stones, as well as Mindfulness, Meditation and Pranayama (breath work).
After about ten years of practice, Ashley became a certified Yoga teacher in 2011. Ashley has been teaching yoga in Toronto, Ottawa and Muskoka for 10 years. She has trained and studied Yoga in India with Saraswati Jois, Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann and in North America with Richard Freeman, Seane Corn, Mark Darby, the late Michael Stone, Kelly McGonigal and Rod Stryker among other superb teachers.
Ashley's studies in Buddhism have allowed her the privilege to hold private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on several occasions and to receive teachings at his home temple in Dharamsala, India.
Ashley holds a B.A. Honours in Asian Religions from Concordia University, Montreal. When not teaching dockside in Muskoka, she is a Registered Psychotherapist and offers sessions in person and remotely online.
